Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Michigan in 1991, Dr. Graulich went on to Veterinary School at Cornell University, graduating in 1995. He was recruited by California Animal Hospital and performed an internship from 1995 until 1996 under Drs. Ettenger, Lusk, and Feldman, specialists of cardiology and internal medicine. He then practiced for three years in Manhattan Beach at Bay Animal Hospital. In 1999 Dr. Graulich moved to Malibu where, from 2000 until 2005 he had his own practice, Pacific Coast Animal Hospital. Having outgrown this smaller facility, he proudly opened the doors to Malibu Coast Animal Hospital in December of 2004. Among his special interests and areas of expertise are giant-sized dog breeds, dermatology, soft-tissue surgery, and cardiology
Dr. DePerno was awarded a B.S. in Veterinary Science in 1997, and DVM from Michigan State University in 1999. Upon graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to do an internship in surgery and emergency medicine with the California Animal Hospital Department of Surgery. After completing her internship, she joined the general practice with Drs. Didden, Fisher and Moller of the California Animal Hospital. After four years of treating patients in West LA, she joined the staff of the Malibu Coast Animal Hospital in September, 2004. She has special interests in surgery and alternative medicine, and takes pride in developing lasting relationships with her patients and their families. She has volunteered her time doing lectures for the volunteers at the Agoura Animal Shelter.
Dr. Newell graduated from Ross University in 1997 while doing her clinical training at University of Missouri Columbia. Being a native of Southern California, and a technician here intermittently for 10 years, she found it difficult to be away for three years. She was happy to return to practice as a veterinarian. She has been serving on the board of directors for the California Wildlife Center, a local wildlife non-profit organization, for five years. She is also an active volunteer with Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. This year, she will be playing in several events in the World Series of Poker, another passion of hers. She knew that being a veterinarian was “in the cards” for her, since telling her mom she wanted to be a “doggie doctor” since the age of four.
Dr. Victor may be a familiar face to many of our clients, as he grew up on the beaches of Malibu. While he's new to our staff, he's no stranger to our practice. Prior to attending Vet School at Atlantic Veterinary College he clocked many hours as a volunteer, observing and learning from Dr. Graulich. Following graduation he performed a year-long surgical and internal medicine internship under Dr. Ettenger at California Animal Hospital. We are happy to have him back; he joined our staff as a full time doctor in July of 2007.
Dr. Jim Wright
Dr. Wright, also a graduate of Cornell University, is a part-time member of our staff. Prior to semi-retiring and moving to Malibu, he had his own practice in Modesto, CA.

We are happy to report that Simon Ettinger, our 2007 intern, was invited to stay on as a part-time employee as he finishes out high-school. We have found Simon to be a highly valued member of our staff.
